As we have seen in the previous instalment, in his vision of revelation, St. John\u00a0the evangelist predicted that in the end times most of the population of the world would\u00a0worship a single religion. This religion would be universal in scope and would attract rich and poor alike. In the book “The Last Days of Tolemac”<\/em>\u00a0the Oracle\u00a0describes what this one-world religion will be.<\/p>\n

This religion is called <\/span><\/span>\u201c<\/span>Babylon<\/span><\/span>\u201d <\/span><\/span>. Babylon is not just the name of a place<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>It is a symbol of everything for which the original city of Babylon was once\u00a0famous. At the height of its glory Babylon was the envy of the\u00a0world. It was a place of great luxury and wealth. Its hanging gardens\u00a0were among the wonders of the ancient world.<\/p>\n

In his vision, John saw a woman wearing royal clothes adorned with fine\u00a0jewelry.\u00a0\u201cAnd the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden\u00a0cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her\u00a0fornication: And upon her forehead was a name written,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS\u00a0AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/span>(Revelation 17: 4-5)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The woman of mystery that John saw in his vision was called the\u00a0\u201cMother of Harlots<\/span><\/span>\u201d because she had seduced all the nations of the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>world. Her cup of gold symbolized the excesses of all those who had\u00a0worshipped her.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cFor all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her\u00a0<\/span><\/span>fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication\u00a0with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through\u00a0the abundance of her delicacies.\u201d <\/span>(Revelation 18:3)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The religion symbolized by the woman called <\/span><\/span>\u201c<\/span>Babylon<\/span><\/span>\u201d <\/span>is the religion of\u00a0<\/span><\/span>materialism.<\/span> It is the desire for material wealth ahead of all other\u00a0values in life. Babylon is a very old religion. It has seduced people since\u00a0the earliest days of civilization. It continues to seduce people to this\u00a0day. It is now the dominant religion on the earth. All nations and\u00a0cultures have fallen prey to its seductive lure.<\/p>\n

Babylon lies at the heart of all the sorrows of this world. Those who\u00a0lust after money and wealth may appear to be successful in life, but\u00a0they are pursued by sorrow. In striving for material gain they are\u00a0stalked by spiritual loss.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some\u00a0<\/span><\/span>coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced\u00a0themselves through with many sorrows.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>(I Timothy 6:10)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It is the love of money and the single-minded pursuit of wealth, luxury\u00a0and pleasure, without regard for the spiritual values of life, that has\u00a0brought people and nations to the crisis that now confronts the world.<\/p>\n

It is the love of money that has caused so much sorrow among so many\u00a0people on the earth over so many centuries.<\/p>\n

The quest for material security has become the established way of life\u00a0for people and societies in all parts of the world today. Those who have\u00a0material wealth are universally admired. They are considered to be\u00a0among the successful people of this world. Most people who lack wealth\u00a0yearn for it, and are willing to resort to any form of enterprise, legal or\u00a0illegal, in order to get it.<\/p>\n

But this blind search for material wealth by nations, corporations and\u00a0people has been the source of endless human anguish. Down the\u00a0centuries it has been the cause of countless wars. It has led to the\u00a0destruction of nations and the death of millions.<\/p>\n

The religion of Babylon\u00a0can no longer be resisted because it is so pervasive. It can no longer be\u00a0defeated because the laws of every land support it.\u00a0The mighty creation that Babylon has become today, with its modern\u00a0world of investment, commerce, finance and trade, will soon come to an\u00a0end. It will be destroyed because it has replaced the spiritual values of\u00a0life with the pursuit of material wealth. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The religion of Babylon has lost\u00a0<\/span><\/span>its soul.<\/span><\/p>\n
