Podcast # 45 – The Gog Magog War

My name is Mark Stevens.  I am talking today to Allan Colston. He is the author of The Last Days of Tolemac, which is a book dealing with prophecy and other end-time events. Welcome to the Podcast Allan.

Thanks Mark, it’s great to chat to you again.

Mark: Likewise. It’s been awhile since we last spoke, and I was wondering what you have been up to recently.

Well Mark, thanks for asking. Actually, I have been musing about things that are going on in the world today that are fulfilling ancient prophecy, particularly in the Middle East.

But before we discuss that, I thought perhaps I should begin with something I get asked about by readers of my Blog, and that is the piece titled “The Oracle of Tolemac”. They want to know the source of this post and what I mean by the word Oracle.

If you ask Google for a definition of the word Oracle, the answer they give is that it is “a person, shrine, or medium believed to be a conduit for divine wisdom, providing prophecies, advice or infallible decisions. It refers to the messenger, the message, or the site of the prophecy”.

When I read this, I realized that it was the perfect title for the post and for the words that followed. For the words that appeared in my Blog were not my own, but had been written down by a psychic friend of mine, and what’s more, had been written down in the middle of the night while she was asleep!

The lady concerned was my friend Elise that I wrote about in my post “The Three Days of Darkness – Part 6″. Although sadly, she has now passed on, she was not only the most psychic person I have ever known, but she also had the ability to do automatic writing.

So my answer to the question posed by readers is simple. I really have no idea who the true author of these words was, and neither did Elise. But the words she wrote down in her sleep definitely seem to reflect divine wisdom, and they certainly have a prophetic tone to them, which is why I included them in my Blog.

After all, Mark, what better describes the times in which we are living than “Signs and wonders will be seen – You know my tears – This is the hour”, or the advice that is given “A new day is coming – I am building a Temple – My church is being restored – Read the signs – Stand!”

It reminds me of the words of the Bible: “Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand”. (The epistle of St. Paul to the Ephesians, chapter six, verse thirteen)

And this is the same advice I passed on in my post “The End of the American Dream”. This is the time when all of us need to put on the armour of God, in order that we might survive the challenges that lie in wait for us, as we lurch ever closer to the time of the Great Tribulation predicted by Jesus.

And talking about evil days Mark, I should also refer to one of our previous podcasts titled “Wars and Rumours of Wars”. For if the wars in the Ukraine as well as Syria, Lebanon and Gaza were not enough, we now have a whole new war with Iran, for which we have to thank Israel and the mad king Donald Trump.

Mark: I thought it wouldn’t be long before that subject came up.

I not only have a Blog devoted to prophecy of my own, but I keenly follow what others have to say on the subject of Bible prophecy as well. And when I contact them, I invite them to comment on things that I have written about.

As you know I am not a big fan of DJT. In our Podcast titled “The End of the American Dream” I talked about Trump’s health issues and his increasing decline into dementia.  I went on to say that the most disturbing aspect of this was the fact that he himself was completely unaware of his descent into madness.

After all Mark, can you name for me one other leader in the entire world who calls a cabinet meeting and then spends four minutes discussing the virtues of sharpie pens, before switching subjects to talk about the style and design of his new ballroom?

Mark: You’re right. I can’t think of any offhand.

Anyway, my reference to Trump’s dementia clearly outraged one of the prophetic commentators that I contacted, who wrote in reply:

“Trump’s mental deterioration? Are you kidding me? This guy is an amazing example of cognitive superiority. He’s always a step or two ahead of everyone. Where were you during the Biden administration? Perhaps you’re confuse the name Trump with the name Biden. Our first brain dead president.

“Whoever wrote this doesn’t have a clue about what’s going on behind the scenes between the United States and Israel. What’s happening today is actually setting up the Gog and Magog war in a perfect way.”

What surprised me about this was to find someone that actually believes that Donald Trump is an example of “cognitive superiority”. I mean, who can watch what he says and does on a daily basis and not wonder about his fitness for office?

But having said that, I have to acknowledge that, in a somewhat roundabout way, he is correct. For between them, Netanyahu and Trump are undoubtedly setting the stage for the Gog Magog war spoken of by the prophet Ezekiel that I wrote about in my post “The Invasion of Israel“.

Although perhaps I should correct that, for if anyone is responsible for setting the stage for the Gog Magog war, it surely has to be Bibi Netanyahu and not Trump.

Mark: Why do you say that, Allan?

Primarily because of his record of invading neighbouring states and leaving them desolate with complete disregard for all the innocent citizens caught up in these wars.

But let me remind listeners about what the the reference to the Gog Magog war is all about. It is based on the words of the Hebrew prophet Ezekiel, who lived around the end of the seventh century BC, at a time when the Jews were living in exile in Babylon.

In Chapter 37 of his book of prophecy, Ezekiel predicted that a series of events would occur in the “latter days”, a term he used to describe the times leading up to the return of the Saviour. He predicted that a time would come when the scattered tribes of Israel would return to the land of their fore-fathers, and would become a nation once more. As he wrote:

And say unto them, thus saith the Lord God: behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them up on every side, and bring them into their own land: And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel.”

And as you probably know Mark, this happened on May 14, 1948, when the state of Israel came into being, following the adoption of a resolution by the United Nations General Assembly. So it is clear that Ezekiel was referring to events taking place in our own times.

But Ezekiel did not stop there. He went on to say that after Israel became a nation, there would come a time when it would be attacked by the armies of Gog and Magog.

Mark:  Did he say who they were?

According to Ezekiel, Gog is an individual and Magog is his land. In chapter 38, Ezekiel refers to him as the leader of a coalition of armies coming from, and I quote, “the north parts”, and from countries like “Persia, Libya and Ethiopia”. As he writes:

Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, thus saith the Lord God; in that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely, shalt thou not know it? And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army.”

And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.”

According to Ezekiel, this vast army would surround Israel. Their goal would be to wipe out the Jewish nation once and for all, and to take over their land, and that the Jews would be powerless to stop the mighty forces that would be arrayed against them on every side.

But just when all hope seemed to be lost and the entire nation seemed to be doomed, the Jews would be saved by a supernatural event. God would intervene on the part of the Jews by causing earthquakes throughout the earth, and would rain “hailstones, fire and brimstone” down on their enemies.

For Ezekiel goes on to say:

And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord God, that my fury shall come up in my face. For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken. Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel.”

“So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence. And the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.”

“And I will plead against him with pestilence, and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone”.

And Mark, as I have described in my post “The Red Kachina”, I believe that this will be the day on which the asteroid will hit the earth, the church will be raptured into heaven, the three days of darkness will begin, leading to the seven years of tribulation before the end of the current age.

But this is where things get interesting Mark, for although we know exactly what is going on in the Middle East at the moment, and the Bible tells us how it will all end, my problem is that I can only guess as to what needs to happen to get us from here to there.

Mark:  What exactly do you mean?

So let me explain. In the reference I just quoted, Ezekiel writes: “Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, thus saith the Lord God; in that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely, shalt thou not know it?”

So what that suggests to me Mark, is that at some point the existing hostilities in the Middle East have to come to and end and the land of Israel has to be living safely – i.e. no more threats from Iran, Hezbollah or others.

On top of that, it is not clear what country Magog refers to. And if it is Russia, as suggested by the words “the north parts”, there is as yet no sign of them playing an active part in the current war in the Middle East, as they are still heavily involved in their own battle in the Ukraine.

Add to that Ezekiel’s reference to Libya and Ethiopia. And although they are both Arabic, hence Islamic countries, they have not as yet played any part in the Middle Eastern conflict. So what this suggests Mark, is that there has to be an extended period of peace before any Gog Magog war could begin.

And that is where the above reference to Trump’s part in preparing the world for the Gog Magog war is clearly suspect. Up until now, America has staunchly supported Israel, not only by fighting alongside them in Iran, but even more so by providing the armaments needed to do so.

But if there is ever to be a Gog Magog war in the future in which God has to intervene in order to save the Jews, it can only mean one thing, and that is that America has to stop supporting Israel, and no longer provide the weapons necessary to sustain their defences. And how likely is that, Mark?

Mark: I see what you mean Allan. For if America stopped supporting Israel, that means something has to happen to Donald Trump.

Exactly Mark. Because although he remains totally unpredictable, there are too many Jewish influencers to prevent him from doing such a thing. After all, the U.S. media is dominated by Jewish people –  people like Mark Zuckerberg, who owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. This suggests two things.

Either he will live out the term of his presidency which is due to end in January 2029, and be replaced by someone who is anti-Israel, or he will die in office and be replaced by J.D. Vance, the current Vice President. And perhaps Vance may decide to cut links with the Israeli government.

And until that happens, the only thing we can do Mark is what I have said before, and that is to watch and wait. Or better still, to watch and pray. Why do I say that? Obviously because we will play no part in determining our own future. We will merely be witnesses to what happens.

Mark: I just want to thank you Allan for sharing these thoughts with us, and especially for your insight into what is unfolding in our world. I look forward to our next discussion, and hope that it brings a better idea of what lies ahead.
